The League City Planning Department provides general guidance on zoning and land use in League City. The department reviews and provides information on requests for rezoning, special use permits, and variances. The department provides staff support to the Planning and Zoning Commission, the Zoning Board of Adjustments, and the Historic Commission.
We also process applications for plats, site plans, infrastructure plans, and communication towers, which are subject to review by the Development Review Committee (DRC). The Planning Department is the initial point of contact for the DRC.
All new projects or resubmittal should be submitted by Friday, 5 p.m., for review the following week. DRC comments will be issued to the applicant by Monday (the 6th business day after the submittal deadline).
Any developer may schedule a pre-development meeting to review site plans with the Development Review Committee (DRC). This committee meets every Tuesday at 9 a.m. in the engineering conference room at 500 W Walker St. Appointments may be made by calling the Planning Department at 281-554-1080.
Digital Submittal Requirements
Effective immediately, the City of League City is suspending all in-person submittals and is requesting that all future applications be submitted digitally. By moving to a digital submittal, the submittal process will be streamlined and we will no longer have to worry about couriers or mailed deliveries arriving by certain deadlines.
All submittal requirements will remain the same. All of the required documents must be provided in a single email and be accessible either as attachments, or in a dropbox folder. Be mindful, there are limits on the size of files that we can receive via email, so dropbox is the preferred method of delivery. Ensure that all required documents are included and do not send piecemealed submittals, as tracking and uploading submittals in this manner is challenging. After delivery and confirmation of application completeness, we will contact you for billing method.
A planning related submittals (plats, zoning cases, SUPs, etc.) will be submitted through email@example.com.
New Submittal Due Dates & Development Handbook
Starting January 1, 2019, all development related plans, including plats, site plans, infrastructure plans, variance request, applications for Certificates of Appropriateness, and Special Use permits must be submitted by 12 p.m. on Tuesday to be placed on that week’s Development Review Committee (DRC) agenda. DRC Comments will be sent to the applicant the following Friday (the 9th business day after the submittal deadline).

New Policy Changes for Site Development Plans
As of June 1, 2018, the City of League City will accept all plans associated with new commercial construction and commercial additions in a single submittal package. All commercial development must be submitted with a building permit application. The permit application and all required documentation, including structural and civil plans, will be submitted to the Building Department.
The permit application and plans for commercial construction shall be submitted through the Building Department, with a commercial building permit application.
